Find your way. Connect with nature.
It all starts with the first step...
a challenging hiking trip, short hikes and loop trails, or a stroll through the Eifel Forest.
The Eifelsteig long-distance hiking trail winds through the Eifel National Park, the Kneipp spa town of Gemünd, and the Oleftal valley over two stages. The trail becomes more adventurous under the motto “right through and right in the middle” on the WildnisTrail.
Circular trails lead past Eifel vistas and invite you to linger with sensory loungers. We’d be happy to tailor your route to your preferences—whether it’s a nature experience, a daydream, or an active challenge—our local experts at the Tourist Information are here to assist you!
The Schleiden area also offers a wide variety of hiking experiences:
from tranquility and nature observation to discovering hidden spots. In addition, the “Hikeable City of Schleiden” invites you to join guided walks and hikes, which are listed in the annual calendar.
The program is complemented by Social Walks, which combine walking together with conversation and new encounters.
On the third stage from Gemünd to Heimbach, you hike through the Kermeter. This ridge with its ancient beech forests was the decisive reason for the designation of the national park.
Just a stone's throw from the Eifel National Park, the 9 km hike takes you to special places in the Northern Eifel where you can enjoy special nature experiences during the night.
The fourth stage of the Eifelsteig from Einruhr to Gemünd.
The 5th stage of the Eifelsteig leads from Gemünd to Steinfeld.
