Shaping Your Career Future
Demographic change poses a particular challenge for rural regions in attracting and retaining a sufficient number of young people and skilled workers over the long term. In Schleiden, companies are already working hard to inspire young people with local career opportunities and to further enhance their appeal as employers. At the same time, the focus is also shifting to skilled workers and returnees who want to consciously shape their professional future in their hometown.
GfW Schleiden actively supports this process and brings schools, companies, skilled workers, and those interested in returning to the area together in a targeted manner. In collaboration with the municipal secondary school, the Future Pool project was developed to spark interest early on, offer guidance, and raise awareness of career paths in the region.
A key component is the “Apprenticeship Road Trip”: visits to companies during their day-to-day operations turn into a hands-on journey of discovery for students into their potential professional futures.
In addition, GfW Schleiden organizes digital apprenticeship fairs, company visits, and other exchange programs that actively support the transition from school to apprenticeship, college, and a career. Initiatives such as the “Open Day Eifel” also facilitate connections between companies, young talent, and skilled professionals, thereby strengthening regional networking.
