Wintzen
With a population of about 70, Wintzen is one of the smallest villages in the Schleiden municipal area. This hillside village is quietly situated on the edge of the forest and is characterized by its secluded location and sweeping views of the countryside.
The village’s history dates back to the 15th century. For many centuries, Wintzen remained small and intimate—a place that has retained its character to this day.
Its elevated location and proximity to the forest and open spaces make Wintzen an ideal starting point for peaceful walks and short hikes off the beaten path. The surrounding area invites visitors to experience the landscape in its unspoiled state.
An active village life is sustained by the village community association, which is committed, among other things, to preserving the wayside chapel and fostering a sense of community in the village.
Wintzen is a quiet, time-honored village that uniquely combines tranquility, open spaces, and unspoiled natural beauty.
