Ettelscheid

With a population of about 250, Ettelscheid is a small mountain village situated at an elevation of approximately 510 meters. Half-timbered houses define the village’s appearance and give it its peaceful, time-honored character. The Catholic chapel serves as a central focal point in the village.

Its elevated location offers sweeping views of the surrounding countryside. Small spring-fed streams originate in the area and wind their way down into the valleys—a quiet, natural setting that is particularly well-suited for walks and short exploratory tours.

The village’s history dates back to the High Middle Ages. Traces of the Roman era can also be found in the surrounding area, pointing to the long history of human settlement in this region.
