Dreiborn

Dreiborn has about 1,000 residents and is a village with a vibrant community life. Festivals, group activities, and a spirit of togetherness shape everyday life and make the village’s charm palpable to visitors.

The Dreiborn Plateau begins right at the edge of town and offers sweeping views across the Eifel National Park. The open landscape, the “Baumelbank” (swing bench), and the “Hirschkickbud”—a red deer observation deck—invite visitors to consciously experience nature and savor special moments. A stop at the local café also offers the chance to round out your visit in a peaceful atmosphere.

In the spring, this high-altitude village reveals its most striking beauty: the blooming broom bathes the landscape in brilliant yellow. The centerpiece of the Broom Blossom Festival is the so-called “Eifelgold”—the broom. Numerous themed hikes wind through this unique setting.

The Dreiborn dialect (“Drommer”) is part of the town’s identity and is still spoken today. Guided hikes bring the dialect to life and connect it with local stories. 

The Dreiborn moated castle, first mentioned in 1334, serves as a reminder of the town’s long history as the center of its own domain.
