The observatory of the astronomy workshop "Stars without Borders" on the International Place Vogelsang IP in the middle of the Star Park Eifel National Park regularly offers public sky observations.

A magnificent view is offered here on the edge of the village of Dreiborn on the Dreiborn plateau 567 metres above sea level. The view stretches far in a south-easterly direction to the hilltops of the Volcanic Eifel.

In the Eifel National Park centre at the Vogelsang IP “International Place”, visitors can experience nature with all their senses - indoors and outdoors. Surrounded by dense mixed deciduous forests, the modern visitors’ centre above the Urftsee lake has hosted the “Wildnis(t)räume” (“Wilderness Dreams”) exhibition - a barrier-free, interactive nature experience for people of all ages. The Eifel National Park centre is open all year round.

Viewing platform at the Urft dam. The viewing platform on the Urft dam wall was the site of the barrier keeper's homestead built between 1924 and 1926 until it was destroyed in the Second World War.

Black cormorants, great crested grebes, grey herons, ducks and, with a bit of luck, red and black kites as well as the black stork - the Urft Dam in the Eifel National Park is an El Dorado for birds. Here they can breed in peace and raise their young. The bird watching station at the Urft reservoir is an excellent place to observe the birdlife. Two high-quality telescopes are available for this purpose.
