For the umpteenth time, Heinrich Wimmer, organist at the Stadtkirche St. Jakob in Burghausen, will perform an organ concert on the historic König organ.
In addition to works by Kerll, Pachelbel, Walther, and Krebs, he will play two major works by Bruhns (Praeludium in e, "the Great") and J.S. Bach (Praeludium and Fugue in d minor, BWV 539).

Heinrich Wimmer, born in 1964 in Altötting, Upper Bavaria, has served as an organist in his hometown since the age of 14. He initially studied 'Catholic Church Music' in Regensburg, where the then Passau Cathedral organist Walther R. Schuster and KMD Karl Norbert Schmid (organ), Prof. Dr. Hermann Schroeder (theory), and Dr. Oskar Sigmund (piano and theory) were among his influential teachers. He then joined the organ class of Prof. Klemens Schnorr at the Munich Conservatory and completed his advanced studies in organ as his main subject in 1989 with the concert diploma (Artistic State Examination) and in 1991 with the master's class diploma.
In 1985, Heinrich Wimmer became the organist at the Stadtpfarrkirche St. Jacob in Burghausen on the Salzach. There, he initiated the construction of a highly regarded organ and established an international organ concert series.

During his numerous concerts, which have taken him throughout Germany and almost all European countries as well as to Israel, China, South Korea, Russia, and the Baltic States, he has performed the complete organ works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy, and Max Reger. Over 150 organ compositions from his former teacher Oskar Sigmund, as well as other contemporary composers (including Harald Genzmer, Andreas Willscher, Hermann Schroeder, Johann Simon Kreuzpointner), have been premiered by Heinrich Wimmer at prominent international festivals.

In addition to numerous radio recordings, he has released 45 CDs to date. Among the recordings are a comprehensive view of the organ works by Oskar Sigmund and Walther R. Schuster at notable organs, as well as numerous organ portraits of lesser-known but historically significant instruments for the respective organ landscapes (including six historic organs in the Vogtland: Oelsnitz, Markneukirchen, Lengenfeld, Straßberg, Elsterberg, and Schöneck).
