Orgelkonzert in der Schleidener Schlosskirche

Choral and orchestral concert in observance of Remembrance Day.

Under the proven direction of choir director Heinz Ströder, the choirs of the Gemünd Church Choir and Cantemus&More will perform, accompanied by members of the Bonn Academic Orchestra.

The program features Francesco Durante’s Magnificat, the “Missa in D Major” by Otto Nicolai—who is better known for his opera “The Merry Wives of Windsor”—and, by the same composer, Psalm 84 “How lovely are your dwellings.” While this psalm’s musical language is reminiscent of Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy, the setting of the Mass is a musical delight thanks to its festive atmosphere and contrapuntal artistry.
In addition, the choir will perform several a cappella works—the supreme discipline for good choirs.
“Ubi caritas” by Ola Gjeilo, “Only in Sleep” by Eriks Esenvalds, and “When the Earth Stands Still” by Don MacDonald.
All in all, a musical event not to be missed.
