Eifelleser Book Review / 2026 Issue by and featuring Peter Stephan Cremer (text) and Karl Heinz Lorbach (guitar).

Following the successful kickoff event for the Eifelleser Book Review last year, there will be a new edition to mark the conclusion of this year’s series.

Peter Stephan Cremer will present selected new releases from the 2026 book season. He will be accompanied musically by Karl Heinz Lorbach, who will perform his own compositions as well as works by well-known guitarists.
The use of social media and AI-based applications is advancing almost unchecked and often without much reflection. It is bringing about lasting changes to our lives—including the world of reading. Against this backdrop, the latest figures on the state of the book industry are alarming: declining sales (-2.7%), a significant drop in the number of book buyers (especially among 10- to 15-year-olds: -30.6%; overall: -4.9%), increasing consolidation in the publishing industry, fewer new releases, and declining reading proficiency are all cause for concern.
The causes of this trend are manifold. In addition to the effects of digitization, they range from shortcomings in education policy and the persistently weak economy to the general uncertainty felt by many consumers due to the multitude of current crises. The Eifelleser Book Review 2026 aims to provide guidance, spark curiosity, and inspire a love of reading. It is intended as a deliberately subjective selection of noteworthy new releases—and is conceived entirely without the use of AI.

“To read books is to wander into distant worlds, from our living rooms out among the stars.”
