Insektenbestimmungskurs: Wildbienen und Verwandte
NABEAR Naturschutz-Bildungshaus Eifel-Ardennen-Region
Insect identification course on the topic "Wild Bees and Relatives".
Unlike the well-known honeybee, most wild bee species live alone and build their nests in the ground, in dead wood, or in hollow plant stems. Some are only a few millimeters large, while others shimmer metallic green or blue. Many have astonishingly specialized relationships with certain plants. Some of their relatives live parasitically at the expense of other insects. Those who can identify wild bees and their relatives recognize which plants are important for which species or how the good and bad relationships between the species are structured – and understand the deeper ecological connections.
