Hike with a visit to the Urft dam.

A very special excursion awaits you. The tour begins in Gemünd. From there, you’ll take a bus via Walberhof to Einruhr. After a short stop in Einruhr, you’ll embark on a nearly silent electric boat ride across the idyllic Obersee to the Urft Dam. The numerous bends offer breathtaking views of nature—it’s no wonder this part of the lake is also called the “Amazon of the Eifel.”
A special highlight is the tour of the interior of the Urft Dam with its numerous steps and the impressive engineering of bygone eras. The imposing structure, built in 1905, was once considered the largest dam in Europe and continues to impress today with its technical and architectural significance.

After a self-catered lunch break, there will be a guided hike along Lake Urft back to Gemünd (approx. 12 km). Alternatively—subject to agreement with the participants—a more challenging but shorter route with a steep ascent over the Victor Neels Bridge to the Forum Vogelsang can be chosen. From there, the return trip to Gemünd is by bus.

The event uniquely combines nature, history, and physical activity and promises an unforgettable day in the Eifel.

Hike: 12 km (alternatively approx. 6.5 km with a steep ascent of approx. 200 m elevation gain)
Difficulty level: moderate
Tour: Warm clothing and sturdy shoes for the many steps.
