Schleiden
Hélène Michel was born in Vietnam and moved to Marseille in 1975. Aside from individual stays abroad in Mauritania, Yemen, and Namibia, she has lived in Bonn since 1985. After four years of artistic training and numerous further education courses in Germany and abroad, she particularly dedicates her creative work to the impressions of people, landscapes, and cities. She is a member of the Federal Association of Visual Artists in Bonn-Rhein-Sieg. Since 2002, Hélène Michel has exhibited her paintings in numerous exhibitions in Germany, Belgium, Great Britain, Italy, and Poland. She works with various techniques.
In the Schleiden Town Hall, she presents a selection of her oil pastel works in the exhibition PERSPECTIVES, focusing on three themes: Urban Landscapes, Windmills, and Literacy. The vibrant life in large cities with their monumental buildings and distinctive skylines, the comfort found in villages with unremarkable houses, and the power of ever-working windmills have been viewed by Hélène Michel from different angles, subsequently analyzed in her perspective in a cubist manner, broken down into geometric surfaces, and captured in radiant colors in her paintings. Hélène Michel addresses the sensitive topic of reading and writing difficulties in her work with the cycle Literacy. Some works that aim to raise awareness of the theme can also be viewed here in the exhibition PERSPECTIVES.
