Plant Wasps

Plant wasps are not stinging pests; rather, as primary consumers, they play key roles in our ecosystems. Unlike wasps with a waist—which include those annoying buzzers that compete with us for plum cake at the summer coffee table—plant wasps are characterized by the absence of the typical wasp waist and a stinger, nor do they have any appetite for plum cake. Despite their great ecological importance, this group is often underrepresented in general entomological knowledge and thus frequently goes unrecognized in the field as well.
