Schleiden-Vogelsang
They are often mistaken for beetles: tree bugs, such as the striped bug depicted. However, they form their own order of insects together with cicadas and aphids. What they all have in common is that they puncture plants with their piercing mouthparts and feed on their sap. There are a few parasites among them, such as bedbugs, which have - unjustly - tarnished the reputation of the entire group, as the vast majority of them are sap-sucking insects or sometimes predators that hunt other insects. Bugs are an interesting group of insects with a significant role in local ecosystems.
