The easy and flat route leads along the Villeseenplatte through extensive mixed forests of the Rheinland Nature Park. The Villeseen are a landscape protection area in the Ville, a hill range west of Cologne. Here, unlike in the Eifel, spring can be enjoyed earlier. The lakes are former open-cast mining pits where lignite was extracted. The path along the lakes offers enchanting viewpoints of water and nature.
