Sonderausstellung: "Visionen der Macht"
Mar 4, 2026 - Dec 31, 2026
Schleiden
"Building", says historian Wolfram Pyta, "was a core area of Nazi rule". Buildings and architecture from this period illustrate the political and ideological self-image of the National Socialists.
In 2023, Vogelsang IP thankfully received six photo albums on the construction history of the Nazi Ordensburg Vogelsang from 1934 to 1937 as a donation from the family estate of Dieter and Peter Derichs. They document the construction site much more extensively and in numerous details, so that many previously unanswered questions could be clarified. The Aachen-based family business Derichs u. Konertz KG, founded in 1926, was responsible for significant parts of Vogelsang's building construction.
The photo albums are important for research into the Nazi Ordensburg, as they provide new and in-depth insights into the events on site up to the summer of 1937. At the same time, they provided the occasion for this small exhibition to shed light on the reasons why the planning and construction process at Vogelsang was characterized by unrest and actionism from the very beginning.
