Eifel Serenade: Ein Wiener Konzertabend, Liebesfreud und Liebesleid
Oct 17, 2025
Schleiden-Gemünd
The music of the Viennese classical period is famous for its grace, elegance and quiet but deeply felt romanticism. In this spirit, the concert evening "Liebesfreud und Liebesleid" invites you to immerse yourself in the atmosphere of old Vienna - the Vienna that moved between waltzes and world-weariness, coffee houses and art salons, melancholy and exuberant joie de vivre.
The concert, performed by Enrique Carlsson (violin) and Joaquim Santo Simoes (guitar), takes the audience on a sensitive journey through the sound world of important composers of this era: Ignaz Friedman, Fritz Kreisler, Johannes Brahms and Leopold Godowsky. Their works reflect the emotional depth, but also the dancing lightness that makes musical Vienna so unique.
Special attention is paid to the compositions of Fritz Kreisler - such as the legendary miniatures "Liebesfreud" and "Liebesleid", which, as he himself said, represent a musical confession to Vienna.
But this evening is not only dedicated to music:
With the actress and author Isabella Archan, a true Viennese heart quotes Austrian texts. She also draws art-historical connections to the great representatives of Viennese modernism: Oskar Kokoschka, Gustav Klimt and Egon Schiele. Their works, as well as the music of the time, provide an insight into a city that was in an unprecedented cultural heyday at the transition to modernity - full of longing, passion and creative power.
